Top 100 Media Companies 2014 Infographic

Our CEO Kevin Flood will be playing his part in OnMedia NYC 2014 on Monday 15th September, after PowerLinks was selected as part of this year’s OnMedia 100 Top Private Companies list. He will be a part of a programmatic panel discussion along with other key executives from PulsePoint, The Trade Desk, Gershon Media, Bazaarvoice and Vivaki.

Ahead of the event, we have been busy collating some research into the collection of companies that make up this year’s list and have put our most interesting data finds into this handy infographic.

This year’s list was dominated by ad tech companies. In fact, 78% of the winning companies are in digital advertising. While data, social, and mobile sectors retain a strong presence on the list, native advertising and content marketing are emerging as the latest trends in digital media. The list represents the whole spectrum of today’s digital media sector, with company funding averages ranging from $3m to $762m.

The 2014 top media start ups have created almost 20,500 jobs, with an average of 205 employees per company!  According to data from CrunchBase, the average number of founders for a successful Ad Tech start up is 2. New York is becoming firmly established as the center of Ad Technology innovation, with Silicon Alley playing host to 49 of the 100 start ups, and London showing signs of competing on the international stage as the most popular home of the non-US winners.

Incredibly, the OnMedia Top 100 share a total of $6.1 billion in funding, an average of almost $61 million per company, fueling the explosive growth in digital innovation.

As a new entrant, team PowerLinks are proud to be recognized in the company of  our friends Turn, Appnexus, Outbrain and Pinterest.

See Kevin on the OnMedia panel “Programmatic 2.0 – How real-time bidding will become real time branding” on Monday, September 15th, 4:30 pm – 5:00 pm, at NASDAQ OMX, 4 Times Square, NYC, NY, 10036
